Red Edge: our studio mark, redrawn as one word

Why the R of REDAGE became the first letter of the word, how we fixed the spacing, and the 1.84-second animation our new games open with.

Our logo used to be a mark plus a word: the R monogram, then REDAGE. Now the R is the first letter of the word. It is the same letter, with a cut bowl and a separate diagonal leg, redrawn to sit with the rest at the same cap height.

Spacing by the font, not by a ruler

The old wordmark set every letter a fixed 7 units from the next, measured between outlines. That ignores how letters are built. Straight pairs such as E and D nearly touched, and the diagonals of the A left holes. The new one is set the way type is meant to be set: by Montserrat's own advance widths at weight 850, its kerning pairs (DA, AG) and one even tracking.

The R was redrawn to match the font's weight. Its stem is as thick as the E's, its bars as thick as the E's bars, the leg runs at 45 degrees at the same thickness, and a 14-unit gap separates the leg from the bowl.

Red Edge

From now on, our new games open with the mark drawing itself in. The R appears as a red-hot outline under a rising scanline and fills in. Its leg cuts into place along its own 45-degree line, with a red slash and sparks. EDAGE rises from the baseline one letter at a time, and a red glint crosses the word. It is complete at 1.84 seconds.

The animation moves only with position and opacity, so the browser can keep it smooth while the game loads beneath it. With reduced motion turned on, you see the finished mark, standing still.

The header of our home page plays a short version of it. The new logos are in the press kit.
